A dejected, miserable, and bearded Bat, Man! grapples with his identity as he finds himself middle-aged and looking for work in the City of London on his Batscooter. Between-albums single Don’t Wanna Be Bat, Man! was released digitally on BDeye Music on 27th October 2014 and received 145k views in its initial week on Facebook.
Having finished touring for second album Day Bombs, released in 2013, the Fiiish embarked on a road trip to Ireland, and unsuspectingly rescued Mister Matt McGuinness during one fateful stop in Stab City. In return, he would guide the Fishmobile through potholes towards Caherdaniel, where the band, instead of resting, would write third album Swimming with Piranhas with McGuinness as the new JFF bassist.
And so the theatrical beast returns. Unlike its recorded-in-garages predecessor, Swimming with Piranhas was recorded at Air-Edel Studio in London, mastered by Tim Young (Massive Attack, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Elbow, and The Beatles ‘Love’ Album, for which he won a Grammy Award), and injects hooks, fuzz, funk and…S P A C E…into the Fish Tank. The craziness that was there since the beginning – yes, that remains!
Third time lucky and finally succumbing to the pun, Swimming with Piranhas is to be scheduled for a release in Summer 2015.
New logo, new typeface, new album, new Fiiiish? Keep your eyes peeled for the official announcement of Swimming with Piranhas and with it a revamped website with new artwork, photos, tracks, upcoming gigs, and generally all new things fiiishy.
Watch out for JFF as they take to the streets of Camden in slighter less than loud semi-acoustic form.
